ALERT UPDATE: Meltdown Spector
January 23, 2018
Systems has completed the required compatibility testing with our managed Anti-Virus and the updates were completed on January 24, 2018. The update will address required changes that will allow Windows patches to be installed as they are vetted and become available to address the meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities.
This upgrade also includes enhancements that will increase our ability to better discover and protect against newer and more complex Ransomware attacks.
We will begin updating client laptops, workstations, and servers during scheduled maintenance windows. It is very important that all computers are left powered on but logged out during the scheduled maintenance period. If you do not recall your scheduled maintenance time please contact any of our Systems offices.
There will be no required interaction by end-users to complete the updates.
Additionally, we will be verifying and making any needed configuration changes to all SonicWALL devices under our Firewall as a Service agreement. Not all devices are affected and may require no configuration changes. If you are a Systems Firewall as a Service client and your managed device does require any configuration change to address this vulnerability we will be contacting you before changes are made as per our change management policy.
We will also be contacting all Systems clients that are not on our Firewall as a Service agreement that we know would benefit from configuration changes to their current systems or to offer recommendations to assure you have all of the information required to protect your IT assets including your data from possible exploits or infections.
In the meantime, Systems is available to help in this process, please call any one of our offices if you require assistance.
