Security that Stands Up to Ransomware:
Advanced Endpoint Protection & Response
It’s inevitable – bad actors are going to try and access your network. In this environment, advanced detection and reaction time is critical, and not all security software is created equal.
Noting this, the state of Montana is now requiring advanced endpoint protection on any device that connects to the Montana Department of Justice network. By the end of 2019, enterprise standard behavior-based anti-virus will be mandatory for every Microsoft Windows system on the state network.
Traditional AV is signature-based, meaning that when it identifies a perceived threat to your network, it’s compared against the database of existing viruses. In other words, it tracks and protects against known threats. This approach has failed to match the pace of emerging malware and evasion techniques.
Next-generation AV is behavior-based, which means that it evaluates a perceived threat based on its behavior patterns. This approach is much more effective in today’s environment because it analyzes an object’s “intent,” or potential behavior.
We are pleased to announce that we have teamed with a leading security vendor to provide next-gen, behavior-based, real-time breach detection and prevention. This new endpoint detection and response (EDR) solution integrates completely with our managed firewall solution to provide a unified security platform that ensures auto-remediation of advanced threats and a rollback feature to restore pre-malware system state.
We evaluate vendors based on specific criteria. The combined experience of our technical team allows us the freedom to assess and critically examine all vendors and market choices, and we are unencumbered by re-seller loyalties. When implementing a new software or security feature, we follow a calculated process in which we first evaluate the changes in a test environment before they are rolled out. We are in those stages now and will be notifying you as we prepare to deploy this new EDR security feature across managed networks.
